I'm Back!

Hello.....

Firstly my apologies that I haven't been around in a while. I have had a few medical problems with my arm and wrists and found it very difficult and painful to make cakes of any sort at the end of October.

But I am all OK now and would like to share some of the things that I have been doing since then.

It was my boyfriends birthday in  the beginning of October and he has recently got interested in golf. So it was an easy choice as to what design his cake would be.

I looked around at different ideas then decided on creating a golf course. I was not sure on the shape so I decided to bake two cakes in different shape circles then play around with the shapes. When I had decided on the shape and size, I dug out sections of the cake for sand pits.

After icing the cake and covering it with white fondant, this is what it looked like.

It was one of the most difficult shapes I had to cover with all the groves and edges. The next thing was to create the green, trees and pond.

It took a good day to design and create this cake but he was very please with the final product. Even though the ducks were a little out of scale hehe.

The next thing was to make my own birthday cake. I know that sounds weird to make your own but I was not gonna let my boyfriend make it!

My favourite things I own is my Louis Vuitton Handbags so I decided to theme my cake around this. I wanted to make the cake bigger then anything I had attempted so far so a three tier cake was an obvious choice.

I decided to make all the of the layers different flavours, vanilla, chocolate and lemon. This again was a very long task and took me a whole day to complete. Not even including painting on the design.

Transporting this to work was a task in itself and weighed a ton! But everyone enjoyed it. This is the finished product stacked up.

It was my friends birthday not long ago and I wanted to make something special for her. She loves the cookie monster and I had made those cupcakes before. I then decided to make lots of them and put them on a stand at her birthday party before she arrived to surprise her and she loved them.

The funniest moment was when my boyfriend came home from work and opened the fridge and got a shock.

Last year I had a lesson in making sugar paste roses and having been wanting to try them out for ages. When my friend was celebrating her wedding anniversary, I wanted to make a really pretty and elegant cake for her.

Using a wedding theme and the skills I learnt, this is what I created.

The butterfly and roses took quite a long time as its very fiddly and hard to get them to all stick together.

So that's all Ive been up to so far. I did make a few things over Christmas period but unfortunately I have no pictures to show you.

I will be definitely writing more often so keep your eyes open for more posts.
